Story Time

We have Story Time every Wednesday at 10:30 am.

Children's Library

Our librarian reads two or three books to the children, who then make a little craft related to the books. The program is open to children age 2 and older. Call the library at 376-9905 and ask for Barbara for more information.

Summer Reading Program

Each summer, the state selects a theme for the summer reading program for all the libraries in the state of Tennessee. This year, the theme will be "Book It Across America." Through reading and activities, readers and listeners experience adventures, learn about new worlds, make friends, and have fun. The program is open to children age 2 and older. Registration will be held all day on June 2.

Kids from Kid's Program
Some of the Kids from the 2003 Reading Program

For Summer 2003, the theme was "Dive Into Reading." 147 children signed up for the program, which was held throughout July. Some of the activities included making a fish-shaped tie-dye T-shirt, making an aquarium, and a visit from Mayfiled Dairy's Cal and friends, where each child received milk and cookies.

In the last week of the program, reading awards were given, along with prizes and snacks for all. The children made parrots and received pirate hats donated by Long John Silver's.

Computer Literacy Classes

The Library offers basic computer classes dealing with learning how to navigate on the Internet and setting up an e-mail account. The classes are taught by students from the Tennessee Technology Center in Harriman. Classes are held Mondays and Thursdays from 1 to 2 pm. The classes are for four weeks, a total of eight sessions. Class sizes are currently limited to eight per group.

Classes are not planned to be held again until April 2004, but check back with this web site in case our plans change. Anyone interested in more information can call the library at 376-9905 and ask for Karen.
